LET'S CREATE A HOME
THAT IS UNIQUELY YOURS
STEP 1
SITE ANALYSIS
& FEASABILITY
Everything starts with your specific site.
Wind, sun, topography, views, approach, privacy, & future considerations all lead to the first marks put to paper. Constructibility and municipal requirements / restrictions are reviewed, explained, and documented.
STEP 2
PROGRAMMING &
SCHEMATIC DESIGN
Programming involves capturing your desires, lifestyle, and preferences, and aligning them with the projects scope, size, and budget. I place a large emphasis on the programming of a project as this is when most of the “Oh I never thought of that” moments will arise.

With the program established, the schematic design process begins. We start by looking at the project from a 30,000 foot view, considering site logistics such as location, topography, views, privacy, and natural elements like sun, wind, and rain. Next we start to shape the layout, focusing on entrances, circulation, hierarchy of spaces in relationship to views and privacy, and the overall flow and lifestyle your family desires.
Now with an understanding of the project in 2d, we move to 3d and explore roof styles, interior volumes, materials, doors, and windows.
STEP 3
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Now that the big picture is established, it’s time to refine until all the critical elements of the project are known.
Window size and operations, doors, appliances, cabinetry, Interior vaults, lighting, fixtures and finishes.

Designing a custom home involves navigating thousands of questions. My process ensures that we address these questions early on, capturing the essential details in the Construction Drawings and specifications.
By tackling these decisions upfront, we prevent inaccuracies in price bids, ensure material availability, and safeguard against construction errors.
STEP 4
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
These Construction Drawings document and encapsulate the essence of the project, providing not only the necessary technical details and code provisions crucial for securing permits but also act as a comprehensive roadmap for all parties involved in the construction process.
These documents offer a clear and detailed guide, ensuring that every aspect of the project is understood and executed to meet the goals and intent set forth during the design development phase.
These documents will be vital for other design professionals to develop their drawings as well. I.E. A civil engineer will use this information to design an IWS Septic System.
STEP 5
PERMITTING
Now that all the construction documents are ready to submit its time for you the client to find the necessary forms, try to fill them out correctly, navigate the permitting website and….
Just kidding, I’ve got you covered.

A few forms will need to be signed and dated, and a MAPPS account will need to be created to pay permit fees, and keep track of the permitting progress.

Should comments from the reviewing Authority Having Jurisdiction arise, They will be addressed and revised as necessary.
STEP 6
CONSTRUCTION
ADMINISTRATION
I act as the project designer, and as a representative for you during the Construction Administration portion of the project.
My intimate knowledge of the project's design intent, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements play a vital role in the success of the project. I can also act as an intermediary between you the client and the construction team, ensuring that the construction process aligns closely with the original vision while also addressing any unforeseen challenges or changes that may arise during construction.
My expertise helps maintain quality control, resolves design issues, and facilitates effective communication between all parties involved, ultimately ensuring that the project is completed to the level of quality that’s expected of the project.
